Actually, I should title this 'First Festival in 10 Years' because that's how long it's been since I've done one- and this was very fun. It was a bit windy at times- we had several HUGE gusts that would wipe out a tables contents- but I quickly adapted ways of weighing or tying things down. My items- being made of fabric -were safe from destruction but still....! I was super-glad that I bought these handy dandy weights at Home Depot.
I actually went and bought another set (of 4) before I came over to set up and am very glad I did. An up-ended tent can ruin not only your own items but your neighbors as well. Not cool.
All in all this was a very successful event for me. I think a large part of my success was due to my being able to accept credit cards. 80% of my sales were via credit card and Square made is sooooo easy to do. Definitely worth the small fee to use.
The biggest reward for me personally was visiting with others about Tulsa and the fantastic feedback I got about my work. That is priceless. I'm looking forward to the next festival in Jenks May 3. I hope we have excellent weather!
